Early History:

Activated 1 Oct. 1942 at Bushey Hall as tactical fighter organization to fly Airacobras in ground attack. Destined from outset for 12AF. Hq. 345 and 346FS established at Duxford and 347 FS at satellite base Snailwell. Squadrons later moved to other stations for training. Aircraft flew to North Africa on January 1943 and commenced operations with 12 AF.

Subsequent History:

Redesignated the 112th Fighter Group in 1946 and allotted to Pa ANG.
